Becoming a licensed real estate agent in NJ

  • ​What are the requirements to get your NJ Real Estate License?
    There are several requirements that are needed to get your NJ Real Estate License Age and Residency: You must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Pass the background check
  • What are the steps to get your NJ Real Estate License?
    There are 5 steps that are needed to get your NJ Real Estate License Step 1: Meet the requirements. (You must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and have a high school diploma or equivalent) Step 2: Complete the Required 75-Hour Pre-Licensing Course Step 3: Pass the State Licensing Exam Step 4: Complete Fingerprinting and Secure a Sponsoring Broker Step 5: Submit Your Application
  • How long do I have access to this course?
    Students have access to the course for six months from their registration date (the date that the payment is made). Students typically take 4-6 weeks to complete the course.
  • What if I need help while taking the online course? Is help available?
    Yes, it is! Just give us a call or email us your question and we will get back to you. We provide help every step of the way - from the very beginning all the way to the completion of the course! Even after you graduate, our helpful School Director will help answer your questions about taking the exam or choosing a brokerages. We pride ourselves in helping our students succeed.
  • Can I add the Live real estate course to my enrollment?
    Sure! You can add it on at any time.
  • What if my course is about to expire and I'm not done, or I want to use it to study? What can I do?
    Typically students complete the course in a couple of weeks to a couple of months, but if "life happens" and you experience a delay in your studies, don't worry... you can renew the course prior to the expiration date for a $100 fee and all of your course progress will remain saved for you. Students whose course has expired and have not renewed their course will be given a 50% off discount on the course tuition if they want to reinstate their registration within a year of the expiration date.
  • How do I get the Certificate of Completion?
    You will not get a physical certificate - however, you will fill out a form with your personal information and we will upload it into the PSI database so that you can take your exam. After we upload the completed form, PSI can take up to a week to update your info on their end. You can try to register for your exam, you will be able to register if PSI has updated your info.
  • What is it like taking the Licensing Exam? How much is it?
    The New Jersey real estate salesperson exam fee is $45. This amount is charged by PSI to schedule your exam. You are required to bring the following: Two means of identification with matching names, a valid signature, non-expired issuance, and at least one bearing your photo. Examples of this include your driver’s license, U.S. social security card, green card, or a debit/credit card with a signature. A silent non-scientific calculator is optional (the software has a built in calculator). The New Jersey salesperson exam consists of 110 questions; each candidate is given 240 minutes (4 hours) to complete the exam. To pass the exam, you need to score at least 70%. Once you finish the exam, your score will be displayed on the screen and sent to your email. If you fail, you can retake the exam within the one-year eligibility window as often as possible. To reschedule, wait 24 hours after your last exam, then log into the PSI website and follow the prompts. You’ll need to pay the $45 exam fee for every attempt.
  • What do I need to do after I pass the NJ Real Estate Exam (PSI Exam)?
    First, take a moment to celebrate your achievement! After successfully passing the State Real Estate licensing exam, students must apply for their license after securing a brokerage to join. Joining a brokerage is easy, but you'll want to be choosy on which brokerage you pick to join. Students should interview with different brokerages and decide which brokerage is best for them. They will need to note the brokerage in their licensing application.
  • What if I change my mind and don't want to get my real estate license anymore. Can I get a refund?
    Unfortunately no - refunds are not provided.
  • What will I learn in this course?
    The 75hr NJ real estate salesperson prelicensing course has a mandated curriculum provided to us by the State of NJ which prepares you for your licensing exam. Topics include: the practice of real estate, NJ licensing laws, agency law and ethics, the practice of real estate, ​methods of ownership, land and water rights, restrictions on ownership, estates and interests, fair housing laws, real estate contracts, financing, property management & leasing.
